Ignoring the affect of inflation, dollar amount invested in Project Apollo in 1969 is similar to the money invested for full EHR deployment today by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
I wonder what it will take for this ship to reach moon ?

Patient centric health care
EMR vs. EHR
EMR Consultant highlighted a small but key difference between EMR and EHR. Both are used inter changeably in industry but the difference lies in the classification of end users:
EMR (Electronic Medical Records) – Physician centric
EHR (Electronic Health Records) – Patient Centric
Sure you can use this interchangeably but simple difference like this can go far way in determining the true value from implementation of these electronic products. On further reading, I found more clear differentiation of true meaning in these two terms. EMR specialists highlights that
EMR deals with maintenance of all information for an individual that gets treated/consulted for a given medical condition by a single medical organization in heath care. So like a single diagnosis performed by a clinical staff.
EHR on other hand aggregates all the information that has been created for an individual from multiple healthcare organizations that have treated/consulted him/her. A successful EHR will be the one that integrates across all the different EMR.
Provider communities in a long run need to ensure that their IT infrastructure supports interoperability across multiple EMR products resulting in true patient centric healthcare (EHR).
